Choir instructions for Saturday’s Concert

Venue:                                Christ Church Spitalfields, Commercial Street, London, E1 6LY*


Rehearsal Times:              Please be at the church by 4.15pm so we can start rehearsing promptly at 4.30pm. The orchestra will be rehearsing when you arrive, so quiet arrivals will be appreciated! We expect the rehearsal to be finished by 5.30pm.


Concert Timing:                 Concert starts at 7.30pm. All choir to be at the church by 7.15pm so you can go onstage at 7.25pm. We would like the choir to be sat on the staging throughout the concert (including the first half). The concert will end at approximately 9.30pm.

Please note that we are unable to serve refreshments during the interval.


Concert Dress:                   Men: Dinner suit (or black trousers and black jacket), white shirt, black bow tie, black socks, black shoes.

                                            Women: Long black skirt (not mid-calf or knee-length but at least ankle length) or long black trousers (not jeans). Black long-sleeved shirt / blouse. Black tights /                                                            stockings / socks and black shoes. Discreet jewellery only.


Changing Area:                 There is a changing area in the crypt, but this area is currently reduced due to building work. Please arrive at the church in concert dress if you can.


Music Folders:                   Please bring and use your black ICS music folder. If you are a new member, you will be able collect one at the afternoon rehearsal.


Loan Music:                       If you have borrowed music, please retain it after the concert and take it to the next ICS rehearsal as Chris won’t be collecting Beethoven scores on Saturday.


Tickets:                               Will be available at the Tuesday rehearsal from Louise Tucker. Tickets are selling quickly so may not be available on the door.

                                             If you want to leave (paid for) tickets at the door for guests, you need to put them in an envelope and label it with the guests’ names (at the top) and your name (at the foot).



Transport/ Parking:          Buses: 67 (to Aldgate) stops outside the church.

Tube: Aldgate East and Liverpool Street both about 8-10 minutes’ walk from the church. Shoreditch High Street Overground station is about 5-6 minutes’ walk

Parking: Very limited street parking is available, not restricted on Saturdays in many areas but please observe signs (especially Residents’ Parking bays) and take care, this is a popular tourist area. There is no parking available at the church.
