Our next concert Saturday 15 December 2012

Verdi – Requiem

St Alban the Martyr Church,  Brooke St, Holborn EC1N 7RD at 6.30 pm – doors open 6.00, refreshments available before concert and during interval.

Verdi’s massive and magnificent Requiem is the largest work yet attempted by Islington Choral Society and fittingly comes in the choir’s 40th anniversary year.

The Requiem is frequently operatic in its scope and character, with energetic rhythms and sublime melodies expresssing the powerful emotions engendered by the words of the classic Latin requiem mass – including the almost universally recognisable and spine-chilling Dies Irae (Day of Wrath) chorus.
