It’s gone, it’s done, it’s dusted – but it was a great concert in a great venue, and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana is quite a piece of music.
You know the old Old Spice advert from the 70s used it … and then there’s Andre Rieu version on youtube (of which the famous opening is below)… but you don’t know the half of it. Composed by the German in 1935-36, just over an hour’s worth of incredible music that will not fail to impress.
It certainly seems that impress we did. Once again we had a packed church with every seat taken, and a really excellent peformance thanks to our brilliant soloists, accompanists, percussionists, Musical Director (Michael Bowden) and most of all – you the members. (OK, maybe if you’re not a member yet, if so come and join up!)
And a really successful summer party to follow, celebrating Michael’s 20th year with the choir. Enormous thanks to everyone who contributed, from stage-clearers to chair shifters to food servers to bar tenders and especially the committee members who helped to plan, set up and run the whole kaboodle. We should go in for this professionally… Oh well, maybe not then. But it really was a great gig!
